Stress-Scrabble-Straightened (Sized for Header)

By: Bridget Bachman

It may seem like your stress simply won’t go away. It may even feel impossible to manage the amount of stress that you have to face on a daily basis. You can take charge of your stress today as you learn about how floating is a relaxing, healthy, and safe option in stress management.

Stress is an epidemic that hurts people every day and can come in all sorts of forms such as tension, nervous energy, worry, anxiety, and feelings of intense pressure. The sooner we can identify the stress in your life, the more effectively we can manage it and find solutions. We manage so many things throughout our everyday lives including our family’s schedules, meal plans, events, work engagements, appointments, and much more. We are fantastic at managing all of those outward visible activities, yet do we take the time to manage our stress? Are we stopping at all through our day to tune in and handle our own stress? We check in with our loved ones with how they are doing, yet do we check in with ourselves to see how we are really doing? Similar to having a calendar that maps out our daily activities and manages our appointments; we need to map out, take note of, and pay special attention to our stress before it manages us.

Have you ever wondered where your stress comes from? I have found that stress does not come from thinking about the future, but rather it comes from wanting to have complete control over the future. You are on a purposeful, beautiful, love-filled journey, one in which you are free to give up control and be led on your path of abundance and peace. When we try to control things, we are in turn not allowing ourselves to live a life to the fullest which includes embracing spontaneous, uncontrollable, and even unpredictable joys and delights. What does anyone really gain from control other than a false sense of power? The next time you want to control a situation, I challenge you to simply let go and go with the flow instead. Take note of how this makes your mind and body feel as you give up control and learn to loosen up.

Floating teaches us how to go with the flow and relax. Floating allows for there to be a safe, quiet place for the brain to declutter and unload. It is a time to unplug and disconnect from the noise, while reconnecting with your own self. When you are in a sensory deprivation floating tank, you lose control of the outside world because in a way, it doesn’t exist for those 60 blissful minutes. Inside of the float tank, you find that you truly only have control over yourself, your thoughts, and your choices. Floating teaches us how to step into a relaxed and conscious awareness of our own individual and independent space, starting first with the sacred space inside of our mind and our heart. Through being in tune with ourselves, we are then able to distinguish how our actions impact and influence the world and others around us. Floating promotes growth in the ability to observe our own self.

This practice of connection with self is very important for empathic people. An empath has a large capacity to feel and even understand what others are experiencing to the point where they place themselves in another person’s position.  As an act of healing, the empath will reach out and feel someone’s pain that they are going through with a desire to connect, mend, and bring healing to their hurt and trauma. Empaths strongly feel what others around them are feeling and often get confused as to if the energy they are feeling is their own or another’s that they picked up. This can cause great stress as the empathic person holds onto the emotional stressors that actually do not belong to them. This can feel like carrying around a residue in your energy field or even heavy enough to feel like you got slimed with negative energy. If you identify with being empathic, floating would be an exceptional way to support your gifting of being an empath. Floating assists in the awakening process of understanding what your own energy feels like, how to protect your energy from being drained, as well as how to differentiate between the energy of the people you help and your own. Floating lifts and cleanses away the stress and energy that we face each day.

Floating takes the stress away because it remove as much sensory stimulation as possible. Stress is most definitely a sensory stimulation. Stress can be felt in many ways in the body. Some of these include headaches, stomach aches, muscle tensions, sweating, fatigue, trembling, dry mouth, and dizziness.  The relaxation that occurs in the float tank is a direct result of reducing all of the sensory input the brain and nervous system receive. Taking away sensory input is literally taking away stress! When you remove all of the stimulation and sensory input, you are giving your body the experience of knowing what it feels like to not be under any stress! This is such a divine and loving gift to give to your beautiful body that always loves you in return. The body loves to heal itself and when you intentionally choose healing practices like floating, it multiplies the goodness of an already healing body that is constantly regenerating to be made whole. Floating is like partnering with your body to activate and push the healing process along in an accelerated manner. Do your body, mind, and spirit a favor and float!

The most powerful weapon against stress is our desire to choose one thought over another. You can choose today to be proactive with combating your stress. You can choose relaxation by calling Souler Float to schedule your float session today at 321-591-9005. You can also visit Souler Float at 1694-A W Hibiscus Blvd. in Melbourne, Florida.

Magnetic Field EMF (380×244)

By: Bridget Bachman

Are you aware of the electromagnetic fields that are in your environment? They are so common that you are most likely sitting in an electromagnetic field at this very moment. Electromagnetic fields or “EMFs” are invisible areas of energy. They are often called “radiation” and are produced with the use of any electrical power as well as forms of natural and man-made lighting. EMF’s come from many different sources including microwaves, cell phones, x-rays, computers, power lines, ultraviolet waves, gamma rays, smart meters, televisions, routers, cordless telephones, fitness tracking devices, and many more sources.

The inner workings of an EMF are intricate as there are electric fields that form through different voltages taking place. Along with these electric fields, there are also magnetic fields that form due to a flow of an electric current. The electromagnetic radiation that is emitted from these fields gets stronger as the electric and magnetic fields increase. An example of this would be when your cell phone is working extra hard to maintain connection. When this is happening, you may even feel your phone get warm because it is completing multiple or advanced tasks. This creates a higher electric and magnetic field due to the energy the cell phone is giving off by attempting to maintain a strong cellular connection. These are often the times that your cell phone battery may be depleted earlier than what is common. Thankfully, there are practical ways to help limit your exposure to EMFs. It is a healing practice to not wear your cell phone on your body because these electric and magnetic fields could be dangerous to your health through sending harmful microwaves and free radicals into your precious body. Our bodies are natural and long to stay that way. Natural bodies respond well to natural stimuli, yet being on a cell phone for large amounts of time is not natural and can bring disruption to our health. You can increase your health through limiting your screen time and being intentional with where you keep your phone.

Many people experience EMF sensitivity yet since EMF’s are not talked about as much as they should be and are often a controversial subject, the people that are sensitive are often left confused as to why they have symptoms without answers as to how to be healed and restored.  There are many symptoms of Electrosensitivity. EMFs have been linked to constriction of blood flow to major organs, arthritis, anxiety, depression, and increased blood pressure, blood sugar, and heart rate. Please become your own advocate in the prevailing issue of EMFs. Activate your critical thinking skills and begin to ask questions, be your own investigator, and open your eyes wide to how you are daily being exposed to radiation. When you start looking for EMFs, you will find that they are everywhere. The conversation about the dangers of EMFs seems to be in hiding yet slowly emerging with new data and warnings. It’s quite peculiar that even mobile phone manufacturers have a disclaimer encouraging you to not hold your phone directly to your head.

It can feel slightly overwhelming when first learning about electromagnetic fields because we live in a culture where we are constantly surrounded by EMFs. Fortunately, there are resources, tools, and tricks to avoid and lessen your exposure to EMFs. A very simple first step would be to move your wifi router out of bedroom and place it somewhere that you do not sit or stand by for long periods of time. If you are able to, turn your wifi router off completely when you are not using it or before you go to bed is an awesome tactic to combating EMF exposure. Another solution would be to switch your phone onto airplane mode when you are not using. There are many other ways that you can limit your exposure to electromagnetic radiation. There is EMF protection jewelry that you can get that is made up of different crystals and gemstones. One of the best sources of EMF protection would be found in shungite. Shungite has metaphysical properties to protect against electrical magnetic fields. Shungite is known for being able to absorb and neutralize the frequencies that are found in harmful radiation. It is the only natural material to have hollow molecular carbon cages. These are called “fullerenes” and allows shungite to neutralize the EMFs. In 1996, the scientists that made the discovery of fullerenes won a Nobel Prize in Chemistry. Grounding commonly referred to as earthing is another fantastic way to gently detox the EMFs from your system. This is simply walking barefoot outdoors and connecting with the Earth’s energy through direct contact. Grounding neutralizes free radicals, decreases stress, improves sleep, decreases inflammation, and boosts immunity.

One of the most significant and greatest ways to heal your body from all of the electromagnetic radiation exposure that has already been experienced is to utilize floatation therapy. Floating is a marvelous way to detox your body of harmful EMFs. Each floatation tank contains 1,100 pounds of medical grade epsom salts. These salts pull out toxins that are stored inside of your body and give you feelings of refreshment, rejuvenation, and restoration! I have personally experienced this for myself. As a teacher, I am constantly staring at computer screens, tablets, Ipads, and responding to messages and emails on my phone. I found that all of the screen time left me feeling exhausted and drained. Plagued by overexposure of EMFs, I started floating regularly and instantly found that my emotional, mental, physical, and spiritual health was positively impacted in profound and amazing ways! Floating helped me step away from electronics through increasing my awareness, consciousness, and the ability to monitor how much I was using electronic devices. Discovering floating has been the greatest gift to my health! Floating gave me the ultimate present of being present (in the moment). It taught me how to slow down and breathe, welcoming gratitude and thankfulness into my life in a way that I had never experienced prior. Through floating, I learned how to love myself. Floating demonstrated to my own self the great power and gift of taking care of the body that I live in. Floating taught me how to give my own self the approval, validation, and tenderness that I once looked for in places outside of my own spirit. The nourishing salts soothed my aches, while the sensory deprivation allowed me to get to know my own self much better, accepting myself, and ultimately loving myself. It is nothing short of a miracle in this fast paced society we live in to discover an avenue such as floating that ushers you into a state of peaceful bliss and self-acceptance along with physical, emotional, and spiritual healing. I have noticed that after I float, I feel so alive as though I am viewing life in color after living in what appeared as only black and white! The drained feelings leave and a new energy is stirred up and awakened inside of the floater. Before floating, I would often get EMF related symptoms such as tingling in my hands, headaches, brain fog, insomnia, fatigue, and ringing in my ears. After floating, all these symptoms have completed left me. It’s like the ultimate trade where I would go into the float tank having these horrible symptoms and then leave the tank feeling as though I have been wrapped in a warm blanket of love, comfort, and serenity. It feels like all is right with the world after a float! I invite you to experience the delight of floating though booking your float today by calling (321) 591-9005 or book online at www.soulerfloat.com.

Floating allows us to take an intimate journey into our conscious and subconscious states of being. Flotation therapy is scientifically documented to bring about positive change to the floater. Throughout history, floating has been a dynamic source of inspiration and healing; bringing personal advancement, inner growth, as well as alleviation of pain. The original flotation tank was developed in 1954 by neurophysiologist Dr. John Lilly at the National Institute of Mental Health. He was determined to discover if the human brain required external stimuli to allow for its’ conscious state to keep going. Part of Dr. John Lily’s studies and experiments were aimed at finding a system that would eliminate the stimulation in the environment. Dr. Lily’s first flotation tank was an upright tank that was completely underwater with the floater wearing a breathing mask. Could you imagine floating like that today? I am so pleased that flotation tanks have evolved over time allowing the floater to lay down in a relaxing position as they drift into a gentle oasis of relief.  As Dr. John Lily continued to experiment with different models of flotation tanks, he discovered the power of buoyancy that salt provides. Through the addition of salt, the sensory deprivation tank now had a next level anti-gravity sensation that removed weight and pressure off of the floater. After 16 years of working with different flotation tank models, Lilly perfected the flotation tank with the current design that is used today. This took place in the early 1970’s and has been helping people ever since.

With the new perfected model of the flotation tank set forth, floating grew in popularity. Many neuroscientists and scientists in other fields of research showed increasing interest in the flotation tank and its’ effects on the human body and mind. The central question that scientists are determined to figure out would be to know exactly what happens to the mind during a float. In the scientific realm, many commonly refer to floating as Floatation-REST, which stands for “Reduced Environmental Stimulation Therapy”. Clinical research has proven the vast benefits of floating. The scientific evidence published suggests that Flotation-REST has beneficial effects for many conditions. Some of these conditions include depression, chronic muscle tension, chronic headaches, hypertension, generalized anxiety disorders, post traumatic stress disorder, social anxiety, agoraphobia, panic disorder, amongst many more conditions. Published data also suggests that floating is a very safe and effective way to quickly reduce pain, stress, and anxiety. Floating is non invasive, completely harmless, and enjoyable to the patient. There are currently more science based flotation studies happening in America, Germany, and Sweden that are specifically studying the long-term influence of floating for float patients that suffer from insomnia, fibromyalgia, anxiety disorders, anorexia nervosa, and chronic pain. The more research that is revealed is consistently confirming that floating is an excellent way to treat disorders, pain, and stress. It is eye opening to see the way that floating is healing people all around the world one float at a time. Floaters have reported positive effects on their mental health and that they are able to respond to life in a more peaceful way post float. Floating alters perspective to see life with optimism, beauty, and meaning. Since the body receives healing through the float, this allows for a healed gaze with open perspective of the world. When stress is lifted off someone, they are connected to their truest self and capable to perceive the good and wonderful things that surround them. The resistance is diminished and one is able to flow in their ways of life more freely post float.

With resistance removed, floaters experience feelings of happiness, contentment, and satisfaction. Research has proven that an increase in the release of endorphins occurs while floating and post float as well as a reduction in the number of stress-related neurochemicals. The stress related neurochemicals include cortisol, adrenaline, and norepinephrine. These substances cause hypertension, anger, anxiety, and even heart disease. Since floating decreases these neurochemicals that produce feelings of stress, it paves the way for authentic healing to flow naturally from a stress-free state.

Our bodies are truly amazing! They self regulate and are constantly working around the clock to maintain homeostasis. Homeostasis is the ideal state of being where balance and stability rules and reigns in our bodies. It’s our bodies way of being in precise alignment. Floating allows us to ease into homeostasis, bringing about perfect peace in our bodies, spirits, and minds. Floating eliminates stimulation which in turn eliminates stress on the body. Without stress, the body can automatically go into an equilibrium state that brings healing. Outside of the float tank, our bodies are constantly adjusting to stress, outer stimuli, and the pressures from the outward world. We consciously and unconsciously have to battle through adjusting ourselves to these stimuli constantly. We do this in order to maintain a balance or “homeostasis” with the outside world. In the float tank, that outside world is virtually removed and the only homeostasis being focused on is the one inside of you. While floating, all of the distractions, noises, and threats are eliminated. The human body system is able to completely and fully give all of its’ energy to restore itself. It is not being pulled in multitudes of directions, but it is rather centered in on the core goal of coming into homeostasis. Homeostasis is our normal and beautiful state of being. It allows us to feel vibrant health, euphoria, and pleasure. After floating, floaters feel so balanced, serene, calm, and an overall sense that “all is right in the world”. These feelings most definitely sound like “homeostasis”.

It is remarkable how science confirms and reflects the beauty of this process. According to research from the Clinical Flotation, the float environment minimizes external sensory input to the entire nervous system. There are many different parts of the nervous system that experience this amazing stripping of stimulation. These parts include the vestibular, thermal, gustatory, tactile, olfactory, auditory, signals from visual, gravitational and proprioceptive channels. Scientific studies recorded a huge overall effect for the reduction in stress in floaters documented in a meta-analysis published in 2005. Reports have revealed that floating reduces blood pressure, heart rate, as well as cortisol which results in pure relaxation.

This undiluted relaxation has a lot to do with the magnesium that is inside of the float tanks. The magnesium sulfate salts not only relax the body, but they also allow the floater to float! Since the density of Epsom salt solution causes increased buoyancy, eliminating the body’s gravitational pull, it allows the floater to feel weightless. Consider all of the health problems such as aching backs, sore joints, painful muscle tension, skeletal systems that are in constant pain. Floating frees the floater from the power of gravity! It opens up a wide space for healing because your energy field feels so free and atmospheric. It allows our subconscious and conscious energies to deal with matters that were previously difficult to deal with. Our inner state becomes very clear and tangible while floating because we are able to tune in with heightened awareness and consciousness at such a greater degree with all distractions being eliminated.

Recent studies have shown that floating increases production of theta waves. These slow brain waves usher in colorful bright memories, intuition, feelings of oneness, and quick insights that seem to come out of nowhere. It’s those thoughts that are so sudden, good, pure, and alive! Some refer to this as being in the “flow” state. It’s a state of enlightenment that brings about a fresh energy to the floater. Upon entering the sensory deprivation tank, floaters quickly enter the theta state but unlike normal experiences where one would fall asleep after experiencing theta state, the floaters remain awake. By remaining awake while enjoying theta waves, this allows a conscious awareness of all creative thought pattern as well as imagery, ideas, blissful insights, intuitive knowledge with no blockages to pass through the mind while being completely capable of reaping the full benefits of retaining, remembering, and processing the event. Studies have shown that floaters continue to experience great amounts of theta waves for up to three weeks after their float session. I have personally experienced this and find it fascinating that science validates my own encounter with a stream of creative energy flowing for weeks after a float. I have had some of my best ideas, moments of breakthrough, and divine inspiration during and after a float.

Science is also showing that floating is enhancing brain functioning. There are two hemispheres of the brain. The left hemisphere is skilled at processing details, analyzing, and dissecting information, while the right hemisphere is gifted at seeing the big picture and compiling all of the pieces together. The right hemisphere is very visual and can understand information in a large scale. Research from the University of Colorado has proven that floating increases right hemisphere functioning by turning off all of the outside stimulation for the creative energies of the right hemisphere to soar, expand, grow, and be as free as it wants to be. The therapeutic experience of floating unleashes the full artistic, imaginative, and ingenious potential of the right hemisphere of the brain.

Along with enhancing brain functioning, floating also assists in helping the nervous system. Our bodies have an autonomic nervous system, where the sympathetic and parasympathetic nervous systems work involuntarily. Both originate in the spinal cord and branch out from there. The sympathetic nervous system is responsible for the response commonly referred to as “fight or flight”. This is also called hyperarousal or the acute stress response. It is a physiological reaction that happens automatically when our minds perceive that we are in danger. It causes our muscles to contract and our heart rate to increase. We go into this state often during conflict, driving, handling a stressful task, as well as having negative, intrusive thoughts. It is not healthy for us to stay in a sympathetic nervous response because it causes extreme stress! Adrenaline and norepinephrine are both released during sympathetic nervous responses and this can leave us feeling depleted. While we float, the parasympathetic nervous system is in operation. The parasympathetic nervous system is often referred to as the “rest and digest” system. This system is active during floating because we are relaxed and in a healing state. The parasympathetic nervous system controls functions of the body at rest. It supports the body to maintain homeostasis. It allows muscles to relax as well as brings a decrease to the heart rate. Our bodies love entering into a parasympathetic state because it makes us feel safe. This is the state that we want to be in! It is a state in which our bodies are resting, healing, and restoring the entire system to a calm state. Science has proven that floating heals!
